Good morning writers,
I have received several emails from writers who are struggling to identify what they “should be writing.” Questioning whether or not they are doing it “right.” Feeling lost and scattered and unfocused!
This is all part of the process.
Its truly unrealistic to believe that every piece of writing we create will be brilliant. We have to write a lot of crap before we get to the diamonds. We might even find ourselves re-writing the same things/themes over and over again–when this happens I believe there is something we are not telling the truth about. We are being called to write the thing! Whatever this is. Don’t give up. Expect bad days. But expect even more GREAT days!
Let’s keep going. Today you are building on your treatment or writing new scenes… you should definitely continue to get to know your characters–this is how we build story.
How would you describe your character?
Writing prompt: Write a short scene where your character is looking in the mirror, what does s/he see when they look in the mirror? Describe the thing they see when they look in their own eyes.
2nd prompt: The secret my character sees in her/his eyes is…
These writing prompts may be used for your primary and secondary characters–your protagonist and antagonist (set timer for 25 minutes… BEGIN! Keep repeating prompt until you have the answers).
Have an amazing day!
