For three years I have been awarded a SU CASA fellowship, an accomplishment I am proud of. In my residency I bring writing to senior citizens of the Bronx. For six months I met with the writers of the William Hodson Senior Citizen Center. This year’s Story for the Ages creative writing workshop was a combination of writing memoir, personal narratives, and poems that culminated in a documentary storytelling project. The project titled, THE THIRD ACT are intimate portraits and interviews with the seniors on what matters most to them, covering topics such as finding love after a certain age, faith, community service, loss, and life in the Bronx.
I would to thank Glissette Rivera, Collette Howell-Ervin and Dr. Mills for opening up their doors and making me feel at home at their senior centers. A special thank you to all the senior citizen writers who participated:
William Hodson Senior Center
James Monroe Senior Center
Bronx River Senior Center
Wishing you peace, love and prosperity!
Special thank you to my sponsors!
