REGISTRATION OPEN: Sankofa Sisterhood Writer’s Retreat – year six!

We are overjoyed to organize the 6th Annual Sankofa Sisterhood Writers Retreat to be held this year in Connecticut.

This year’s theme is:

Magic & Manifestation: Conjuring the Story

May 22 – May 25, 2020

It is said that in order to manifest, a few things must be in place. Among these things are clarity of what we want, trust in the process, and clearing our resistance.

Magic as a verb is to move, change, or create by.

It is no wonder then why we need magic to manifest. 

Sankofa is that space and place. 

The Sankofa Sisterhood Writers Retreat is a 4 days / 3 nights retreat for women of color writers gives you the opportunity to spend time with your craft in the company of other writers. It is the perfect retreat for the writer to work in a supportive environment that feeds the spirit, mind, and body. Sankofa is also a place of healing. It lends itself to stillness and time with self for reflection. It forces you to sit without the outside distractions of everyday responsibilities and distractions.

You will have the opportunity to work alone, one-on-one, and in a group to exercise your craft, improve your writing, and gather new tools to take with you as you continue the work of writing your stories. Sankofa always has a few surprises that may include Reiki, tarot card readings, special guests invites. 

The Sankofa Sisterhood Writers Retreat is a safe space for women of color writers where we put our writing and ourselves first. Put yourself first and register. Spaces are limited.

THIS RETREAT IS FOR:

Women of Color.

Writers who need time and space to write.

Women who need a break to nourish their creativity, body, mind and soul.

Writers who have works they would like to complete.

Women seeking the support and encouragement of “writing in community.”

COMPLETE QUESTIONNAIRE and submit writing sample once registered.

Your writing sample can be a combination of poetry and prose, short excerpts of a larger piece, published or unpublished work. It should be from 3 to 5 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman font, size 12 font, and double spaced.

*ABOUT ACCOMMODATIONS**

If you know that you are coming with another writer at the time of registration please let your organizers know that you want to room together. PAYMENT MUST BE MADE IN FULL!

RETREAT FEE: $550.00 includes meals, room and workshops 

REGISTRATION– $100 Non Refundable deposit due by April 3rd.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Non-refundable deposit of $100 must be received in order to hold your spot and is due upon registration.

OPTION 1: Early bird rate $425.00 due April 3rd. (does not include the $100 deposit)

OPTION 2: Payment plan – 2 payments of $225.00 due April 15th and April 30th. (does not include the $100 deposit)

April 15th and 30th – PAYMENT PLAN DUE DATES

April 30th – Registration CLOSES – All payments due

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Full refund (minus the $100 deposit) by April 24th , 2020

NO REFUNDS after April 29th, 2020.  You can refill your spot with an eligible candidate who fills out the application and registers, including paying the $100 deposit.
