HAPPY 6th ANNIVERSARY BEAUTIFUL ONES!!! Sankofa Sisterhood Writers Retreat goes VIRTUAL! We are live tonight at 9:00PM EST. We would love to see as many of you as humanly possible. We know these times are not easy.
We pray you are well. As I wake up this morning I am thinking of all of you and the many writers we have shared space with. I have not been well the past few months and finally this week my body is like, yeah you need to stop. As I write to you I am in bed with two ear infections and laryngitis so for the next few days I need to give it a rest and NOT be speaking (and y’all know that shit is hard for me). I am reaching out to YOU my sisters to help commemorate what would have been our 6th gathering in the mountains. Please do not feel obligated or pressured. Please take care of you. Please establish boundaries. What is one of our mantras “NO! Is a complete sentence!” And we receive it with so much love.
This invitation is for anyone who needs a sacred space this weekend. It is for anyone who needs connection. Sankofa goes live tonight!
PLEASE REGISTER FOR VIRTUAL SANKOFA EVENT HERE https://bit.ly/2LOwcof once have registered you will get the zoom link tonight at 8:45PM.
6th Annual Sankofa Sisterhood Writers Retreat
Magic & Manifestation: Conjuring the Story
May 22 – May 25, 2020
It is said that in order to manifest, a few things must be in place. Among these things are clarity of what we want, trust in the process, and clearing our resistance.
Magic as a verb is to move, change, or create by.
It is no wonder then why we need magic to manifest.
Sankofa is that space and place.
The Sankofa Sisterhood Writers Retreat for women of color writers that invites you to spend time with your craft in the company of other writers. It is the perfect retreat for the writer to work in a supportive environment that feeds the spirit, mind, and body. Sankofa is also a place of healing. It lends itself to stillness and time with self for reflection. It forces you to sit without the outside distractions of everyday responsibilities and distractions.
Sankofa usually takes place in the Catskills Mountains but this year we are bringing online for those who need some support, some sisterhood, some communing with spirit. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A WOMEN (FEMALE IDENTIFIED) WRITERS OF COLOR RETREAT!
This year has not been easy for us but together there is nothing we cannot get through.
THIS RETREAT IS FOR:
Women of Color.
Writers who need time and space to write.
Women who need a break to nourish their creativity, body, mind and soul.
Writers who have works they would like to complete.
Women seeking the support and encouragement of “writing in community.”
